The Soultastics normally perform as a 5 to 8 piece group.
The basic line up of the 6 piece band is:
2 Vocalists (male and female), Saxophone, Keyboard, Bass, Drums
Option 1: Only 1 vocalist (male or female) for a 5 piece band
Option 2: Add Trumpet: For a full brass section: great for swing and soul performances.
Option 3: Add guitar (recommended for extra groove in our soul sets!)
We can expand this group further with extended brass sections up to a full 18 piece big band. For our larger bands please find out more at www.bigbandjazz.co.uk .
What does a performance involve?
We will normally perform 2 x 1 hour sets, but any set times can be catered for.
These timings are of course approximate, and we always adapt to how the evening is progressing. In between these sets the band will normally break for between 15 and 30 minutes. We can provide recorded music for inbetween these sets or you can give us your own music to be played.
What if we want more music?
We can also provide a manned DJ for after our performance, and also a variety of live background music for earlier in your event
How does the band setup?
We normally allow 60 -90 mins to set up the band, less time may be needed for a jazz or swing performance. For a normal sized venue we will not normally do a noisy "soundcheck" but might do a discreet tune to check everything is working perfectly. If the venue unusual, or if an early setup is required please let us know when booking.
What equipment do you need?
The band has all its own sound equipment and stage lighting. All we require from a venue is a normal 13 amp power socket.
Our PA system is a 2000+ watt Mackie system suitable for audiences of up to 400 people. We also use state of the art Bose PA for more intimate performances.
Our lighting rig consists of triclour LED Par cans and tri colour floods with sound to light.

THE SOULTASTICCS are able to performing a variety of styles. A performance can be programmed for us to play music from a single genre, or from a mixture of our Jazz, swing and soul tunes.
The band can also take swing music to a new exciting level with their unique takes on modern pop translated into a toe tapping swing style. Music from Lady Gaga to Nirvana is performed in a new and sophisticated dance style cathcing listenners by surprise and packing the dance floor.
When performing at an event Swing, Latin and Rat pack numbers can be followed by upbeat more modern pop music so that everybody's tastes are catered for. However if you only want us to just swing for a whole evening that is no problem!
Our music is great for functions, as it appeals to guests with a wide range of musical tastes. Classic swing numbers such as "Fly me to the moon" will get everybody on their feet at the start of an evening, rhythmic latin tunes such as "Sway" will keep the temperature hot, before finishing an event with a bang: perhaps some James Brown, or Cee Lo Green
